City Theatre announces the Pittsburgh production of Human Error, by Keith Reddin, performing in the intimate 111 seat Hamburg Studio Theatre from April 2 – May 10, 2009. Tracy Brigden directed the world premiere of Human Error at New York City’s esteemed Atlantic Theater Company and City Theatre is proud to bring the play to Pittsburgh. The New York Times said that Human Error is a play of “admirable subtlety” that “leaves you contemplating happiness, loss and how arbitrarily one can smother the other.”
Human Error tells the story of two National Transit Safety Board investigators, Miranda and Erik, who meet at a plane crash site. Erik, equal parts charm and brashness woos fragile, guarded Miranda into a one night stand which leads to more than either were expecting. When they meet Ron, the lone survivor of the plane crash, the depths of his loss give real dimension to the inherent risks of loving. At once darkly humorous and tender, Reddin’s light touch deftly traces their separate paths of lost love and the search for forgiveness. Miranda will be played by Tasha Lawrence (Bad Dates at City Theatre), Ray Anthony Thomas (Top Dog/Under Dog at City Theatre) reprises the role of Ron from the Atlantic Theater production, casting for the role of Erik is to be announced.
Keith Reddin is an American actor and playwright. His plays include Life and Limb, Rum and Coke, Highest Standard of Living and But Not for Me, as well as Missionary Position which received its world premiere at City Theatre. He received his B.S. in 1978 from Northwestern University and then went on to attend The Yale University School of Drama where he received his M.A. in 1981.
The design team for Human Error includes Luke Cantarella (Scenic), Jeff Croiter (Lighting), Ange Vesco (Costumes), and Eric Shim (Sound Design).
